The heat is on for Jay Choong as he cops first place in the Saga Cup (Expert) class in the last Enduro round with 960 points in total. Will he be able to maintain overall first place for the next two rounds?
Also known as the “Ron Jeremy” category, Jay rides solo in car #168 for Round 5. It is a feat for the Labuan man to sit at the top at such a young age. Another young fellow racer, Alif Hamdan (#72) took second place with 740 points altogether- 220 points for Alif to catch up on.
Looking at the current scoreboard, #168 would still be first in the race even if #72 overtakes as first in class for the upcoming round. Despite Alif beating Jay in the last Enduro round by just 35 points, Jay stands strong with a small margin between him and the second place with the overall championship points. However, Jay would have to maintain second place at the very least to be able to maintain as champion in the class.
Moving down the scoreboard a little bit, the battle is on between #21 and #816- with only 25 points separating them two. Currently, #21 is third on the scoreboard with 630 points, with scores only from Round 1 and 2 as he DNF (Did Not Finish) the race for the last two rounds. #816 is currently holding 605 points, having attended all races since Round 1.
On paper, #21, being driven by Boy Wong, has been proven to be faster with its specs and a quick 2:50 lap time as its benchmark. With the fact that #21 collected points from only 2 rounds, Boy Wong still manages to take third place overall. #816 would have to stay on their toes in order to fight #21 for a spot in the podium.
It is going to be a very close battle for the drivers- with the top 4 playing cat and mouse among themselves. #72 could only get first place if #168 do not finish the race somehow, and will #816 be able to grab third place from Boy Wong? Only time will tell- specifically this coming 15th October.
