It’s #35 vs #73 for second place, and an important lesson for Nicholas

Lau Seng Kiat (#112) locks down first place in Proton 1800 with an overall 1230 championship points- leaving behind a big 430 point gap between him and Eelan, car #35. With one more round to go, second position is a hot seat for #35 and #73. Eelan currently sits second with 800 points and falling behind is Nicholas Aw (#73) just shy of 20 points. A very close call for Nicholas, but with a bit of luck and due diligence, it is still possible for #73 to close off this season by winning second overall.

“Mathematically, Lau has won the championship even if he doesn’t show up for round 6.”

“First in championship is not possible already. I will give it all I can anyways to finish first (at least for the first heat). Hoping Lau will give me a good fight as usual.” Nicholas’ ultimate goal is to learn as much as possible of the art of racing and to also be able to “spar with a sifu like Lau SK.”

“We are focusing on ensuring that all parts are well maintained and running well. The last thing we want is the car to not finish the race because of a RM5 spare part like what happend in Round 5,” cited Nicholas on #73’s DNF on the last round. A small issue but a big consequence for him as a screw from the fuel railing came off, which costed Nicholas a big chance in fighting for championship title for this year’s season. He now makes sure that the Satria is well put together before thinking of having upgrades. This highlights the importance of attention to detail when it comes to racing.

“I will be very careful to finish second in the championship.”

With 2 DNF’s and three-times being second place, Nicholas hopes to end the year on a high note. “This year has been ups and downs for me. But it’s the company that matters. Racing with a bunch of good friends is always fun.” He started gaining interest in racing when his friends brought him to SNF. The event sparked his interest and believes that MSF is a good platform for beginners like him to race in relatively low budget and still get good door-to-door racing.

Congratulations to Ngah Motorsports’ Lau Seng Kiat for securing first place in Proton 1800! The battle is now focused on #35 and #73, and they are now on fire to snatch second position.
