#35 reported under clause for sandbagging at 0.002 seconds over the limit of 1 second. Stewards have decided given that 0.002 seconds is negligible, #35 to be imposed with a 5 second penalty rather than outright disqualification. Stewards Council looked into the REASONING for the rule and how to treat it for this case: The objective was to ensure that all drivers always give their best, and not attempt to ‘sandbag’. Therefore in this case, Stewards have decided that 0.002 seconds makes a negligible difference and is insufficient to justify that a driver is sandbagging on purpose to create an advantage, when considered whether it is 1.000 seconds or 1.002 seconds.
